Review: Don’t… by Jack L. Pyke

January 1, 2013

Heart-pounding, panty-melting, mind-blowing BDSM fun. That’s Don’t… in a nutshell. It’s going down as one of my favorite books of all time, for many reasons, including the rich, layered character portrayals, the zipping, labyrinthine plot, the scorching lust and the fact that you become so intensely engaged in the story that you can’t stop reading without finding out what happens next.

This is the story of a young mechanic named Jack that has fought hard in life to survive bad decisions, tough situations and a severe OCD/ODD disorder. Jack is so much more than you might think him to be, and I love that about him. I can’t say much more without disclosing spoilers and I would hate to ruin the fun before you’ve had the chance to let Jack take you on his wild ride.

This book turned me on, it made me furious, scared and thrilled. It left me rooting like a devoted fangirl for the characters even if they’d just majorly pissed me off and any story that can accomplish that level of emotional and mental enthrallment is absolutely one I will cherish. Like any good rollercoaster ride, there are steep, slow climbs, hard unexpected turns, loops and sudden drops. Take the ride, you’ll be glad you did and come out crying for more.

Happy New Year

January 1, 2013

I’ve finished round 1 edits on Bound By Lies and have submitted Song of the Lonesome Cowboy to my publisher. Now that my plate has been cleared (temporarily) of those stories, I’ll be moving on to finishing Arctic Absolution and writing the 3rd book in the Deliver Us series. I try to keep the latest word count and any updates posted about my works in progress on my Coming Soon page. I’m currently a few chapters into Deliver Us book #3 and close to completing Arctic Absolution.

Happy New Year, everyone. 2012 saw the release of my first 3 novels and I’m hoping 2013 will be full of even more stories and adventures, should my muse cooperate and good fortune hold out. Wishing each of you the best, always, in the year to come.

Award Nominee!

Happy Holidays, everyone! I wish you and your family all of the best this season and in the new year. I’ve had a bit of the winter blues lately, so I was thrilled to see that Whatever the Cost is nominated in the Best Overall Book of 2012 category of the Goodreads MM Romance Members Choice Awards! Please vote if you can.

I have so many new books coming in 2013 and very much look forward to sharing them with you.

Love & gratitude,
Lynn

From Temptation is with Production and being formatted for ebook release. The estimated release date is December 1, 2012!

In other news, I do believe I’m only one chapter away from finishing the first draft of Song of the Lonesome Cowboy, a spinoff sequel to Whatever the Cost, after plowing through 24k of its current 38k word total in a week’s time. Lots of exciting things in the works!

Excerpt from Arctic Absolution

November 17, 2012

Below is a sneak peek at my current obsession, Arctic Absolution:

It was a long night for Jaye Larson. More than ever, the cabin felt too big, like it was sprawling out around him in all directions. Full of shadowy nooks and places for someone or something to hide, he felt lost inside of it. It was only a couple hundred square feet max but, after spending two straight years in a tiny, sparse cinderblock cell where he could stretch his arms out and touch both sides of the room at the same time, he had gotten used to being comforted by cramped areas.

In his cell, everything was under control. He knew what was in it and where everything was. There was nowhere to hide and nowhere to go. And that was good. When you had as many enemies, real or imagined, as he did, it quickly became crucial to get a handle on all of your shit.

Lying on a few thick blankets on the wooden floor in front of the now-roaring fire, he curled up on his side and focused on the licking, writhing tongues of flame reaching up from the chunks of lumber he’d tossed in the fireplace. Under his right hand, beneath the blankets, he could feel the outline of his knife. Its nearness helped him to calm down a little more. The itching, scraping panic faded back a little.

He had thought that coming out to the middle of nowhere to live in peace, away from everyone he ever knew, and away from the world in general, would fix what was wrong with him.

It hadn’t.

Jaye wanted to be alone but there were still people around – too many of them. As if the universe was intentionally trying to kick him in the ass, it had set Tropper Rowe in his path. Trooper Rowe who was obviously gay – obvious, at least, to Jaye.

Being able to read other guys had become Jaye’s strong suit, his supreme talent. It was a well-honed survival skill. Before the men he encountered could act, before they could even think too clearly about their intentions, he was able sense what they were going to do.

It was like a tickle under the skin, and it gave him just enough warning to brace himself, duck or get the fuck out of the way. He used to not try very hard at all to pay attention to things that happened around him, but getting shish kababbed on the end of a butcher knife did funny things to someone.

Arctic Absolution is Lynn Kelling’s forthcoming M/M Romance novel. Click here to add it on Goodreads.
